Have you ever thought about writing an eBook? If you have, then had you ever tried writing it? If yes, then you must have noticed how writing daily improves your writing skills. Writing daily helps you write effectively.

When it comes to writing, every day is a new day for a writer, a new learning journey, a new experience. We will be presenting to you the standard way of eBook writing.

Writing Phase

First comes the writing phase.

Gather your ideas

Every day is a story for an eBook writer. They can make up any story even turn the dullest and boring day into a fascinating story.

As said by Orson Scott, “Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don’t see any.”

You can come up with any idea you think will be amazing enough to engage readers. Try to come up with such an idea you know enough about, and that can be changed into a series of eBooks.

Gather your readers

Once you have come up with an idea, tell your audience about it. This way, curiosity will grow among your readers, and you will feel a sudden rush of excitement in yourself. You can make an account where you can post updates about your eBook. Posting teasers can also help you build your eBook fandom. They will be excited about your eBook and will be the first ones to read it once it’s out.

An eBook writer knows how to keep their readers hooked to them.

Create plot/outline

You want to write something that is interesting, fun to read, and is a complete ride. As an eBook writer myself, I will say firstly write the plot/outline. Mark out how many chapters your eBook will need. Decide the names of those chapters. Whether you want to stick with the usual boring names like chapter one or you, want to come up with fun names. Decide how long the chapters will be. 3 to 6 pages per chapter, or will you keep it spontaneous? For the plot/outline, scratch your head and come up with some excellent plots- plots that are enough to grab your reader’s attention.

First draft

Once you gathered all the things and mapped out every aspect of your eBook. Start your eBook writing. The first one you will write is called the first draft. It will be full of mistakes and errors but don’t worry. The first important thing in eBook writing is to get you to start writing. Writing an eBook is a difficult task, so we will take you with baby steps.

The first step is to take you away from distractions. Avoid using social media, don’t check your emails, leave your WhatsApp aside. Once you have decided on writing, it will take every will power of yours to get it done.

Work for at least 3 hours a day and write up to 3000 words. Don’t worry if it seems gibberish to you. Just let the words flow from your mind to your hand and let those words form a story. Personally, I have liked sitting in a café to work since family members can be a bit distracting. If you have the same problem, you can try hitting the café. Only waiters are most likely to disturb you with your coffee orders.

You may feel like, “Man, what am I even writing.” Remember to let this feeling slide and not to get it on your nerves. If you keep on focusing on the matter, you wrote you wouldn’t be able to write further. And most importantly, with this feeling, you may end up editing your work while writing. And according to eBook writing, that is a big no. Never edit your eBook writing while writing it. Leave the editing part for later.

Gather the information first that you know you will need during writing. For example, if you are working on an eBook about a person with heart disease, you want to gather the information and statistics before sitting down to write it. If you want to look up some quotes or something to add to your eBook, then make a note about it. Don’t go searching for it while you are writing. It can be distracting and time-consuming.

Don’t format either. The first draft isn’t going to be your final draft. It will go through many editing phases before it hits publishing platforms. The first draft doesn’t consist of formatted writing. Let your first draft be full of errors. And just focus on eBook writing.

Editing phase

Now comes your editing phase. Something you have been worrying about before you even started eBook writing.

Redrafting

Take out the first draft that you wrote two weeks before. Keep it in front of you and go through it thoroughly. The reason for checking it after two weeks is to give yourself a break and read from a reader’s perspective. Reading your work from a reader’s view will help you edit your work mercilessly. You will notice things you failed to notice as a writer. And what you thought looked perfect, you might find that same stuff cliché.

Structure editing

Don’t just edit the words but make sure that the chapters are in the right order and the structuring is done correctly. Make sure every chapter is sort of the same length. Don’t make one chapter very long and the other chapter very short.

Formatting

Now when you are finished with your eBook writing, format it. Make sure every chapter has the same font and size, and style.

Also, add a table of contents in the beginning, so your readers will know how many chapters your eBook is constructed.

Setting the tone

Flow and tone

Make sure the tone of your eBook is just right. And that every word flows perfectly. Every paragraph should make sense, and the transitions between the chapters should be clear.

These were the few steps to multiply your eBook writing. I hope this guide helped you and you will be able to write a great eBook.
