CRISTAL CARRINGTON — MUSIC IS THE NOURISHMENT OF THE SOUL

It is a meditation for individuals who want to enjoy pleasure from its unique effects. In fact, music is medicine to the souls. The best part about music is that it has a universal impact on everyone — listeners of all cultures. Music impacts human development and provides peace of mind. It heals minds and souls by touching the heart. No matter which religion, culture, or region the listeners belong to, music has the power to nourish the souls. Life is hard and unpredictable. Nobody knows what it will show the next moment. There are various problems that an individual suffers from. Life is like a roller-coaster ride — there are tragedies, rejections, and negativities. But connecting to music can create a light of hope. It allows the listeners or producers to forget their worries and recover soon from the bumpy days. The songwriters, musicians, singers, and rappers in this industry play the role of mediators who aim to please the mood of their audience. Crystal Kieona Parsley is one such musician who has a passion for music and wants to nourish the soul through her art of music. Parsley is well-known for her stage name Cristal Carrington. She is an American Rapper, pop musician, and songwriter. In addition, she also has an interest in writing, and as an author, she has written two books.
On February 7, Cristal Carrington was born in East Meadow, New York. Most of her childhood was spent between Roosevelt, NY and Hempstead, NY. From a young age, she had developed an interest in music. When she spent her time with her parents, she used to listen to songs of all genres. Then, she was interested in a wide range of rhythms, including soul, Latin, hip-hop, and blues. Cristal’s deep love for music involved her academic qualification in music. In 1993, started learning music academically. She went to Roosevelt Jr-Sr High School to study classical woodwind production (music as academic learning). While learning music as an art, Cristal also observed some pieces of South American rhythms and beat structure. She practices various genres — pop to salsa — she also listened to some legend singers like Celia Cruz and guitarist Muddy Waters to develop more sense of her music understanding. Cristal’s goal was to create bridges between various types and styles of music, such as EDM and pop. While learning music as an art, she was also interested in singing. She focused on Latin and African music for singing and improvising her music skills.
Besides practicing and observing various music genres, Cristal Carrington wanted to create her professional career. She left New York and moved to Washington, DC, in 2005, where she started her career as a college promotions intern at Universal Records. Meantime, she was studying Graphic design at the University of District Columbia.
During her internship, Cristal got an opportunity to promote various roster artists, such as Remy Ma, Maino, Chamillionaire, Lil Wayne, David Banner, and Yummy Bingham. She promoted these artists to university students. After working as a promoter, she switched her career and started writing. She got a position at Examiner.com as the DC Cocktails Examiner. From there, she developed an interest in writing. Cristal was fascinated by writing about entertainment and lifestyle. She kept writing as her professional career and attended Georgetown University between 2008 and 2010 to study Public Relations/Corporate Communications. She also published her letter to the editors on various prominent platforms, such as USA Today and The Washington Post.
Cristal promoted her writing career in the food and beverage industry. She also became an author and published two books, The Socialite’s Guide to 99 Simple Signature Cocktail Recipes and The Socialite’s Guide To: Choosing The Right Cocktail.
However, Carrington’s deep love for music joined FM station WPGC 95.5 as internee producer for the Albie Dee Show. Meanwhile, she developed her identity through her voice with eclectic rhythms. In 2014, Cristal composted an Industry Mixtape, Radio Ruckus Vol 1, based on various artists from the United States and the UK.
Finally, in 2020, Cristal introduced her pop and rap songs with a few releases. Revenge was Carrington’s first solo project, which received good reviews for producing a chameleon and dynamic approach to her songs. In late 2020 and 2021, she released some more pieces of her artwork based on hip hop and the R&B crowd. Boss Sauce is her most notable release, produced by Sick Cuz Da Guvna.
