“It was mid-night the alley sat empty the darkness it held made the lurking shadows appear taller than the buildings. The dumpsters filled at the top stood there as the smell reeked around. The blood splattered onto the walls, dried and darker the owls howled as the moon raised up high in the sky. It was the alley that reeked of blood and cast shadows of the slaughtered souls.”

You stopped typing and put the laptop on the table in front of you. Cracking your knuckles, you stifled a yawn and stood up from the couch. Your novel has just begun, and here you were, stretching out with water running down your eyes. You were that tired. If it weren’t for your cramps, you would be out on the terrace with your headphones in music blaring. Your fingers would dance around on the keyboard.

Standing up, you looked back at the couch and groaned as your eyes landed on something it was dreading not to see.

“Not my blood,” You murmured under your breath and walked off in the direction of the bathroom. You had to get it cleaned before your mom saw it. She had been bugging you about the new menstrual cups, but you just weren’t comfortable with it. Thinking about those scared you to death.

You headed towards the bathroom and took a rough piece of cloth. Opening the tap, you placed it under, letting it soak the water. While the tap water ran freely, you checked your reflection in the mirror. Your eyes had dark circles under them even though all you have been doing is sleep. The drowsiness was evident in your eyes, and the irritation was seeping out from your face. With a sigh, you closed the tap and clutched the poor cloth tightly. Hidden inside your fist, you walked into the living room. The cushion laid on top of that red spot you marked. A heavy sigh escaped your lips. You picked up the cushion and placed it on the table. You started scrubbing the couch with that wet cloth, the main door’s knob moved.

With a creak, the door opened, and your mom stepped in, catching you red-handed.

“What happened?” She asked as she sat the groceries onto the kitchen counter.

“My blood happened,” You said, rolling your eyes. She raised her eyebrows at you. You knew it looked terrible; it was the cream-colored couch she loved so dearly.

“Why don’t you switch to menstrual cups? They prevent leakage,” She said. You smiled when the stain came off.

“I’m not comfortable about them,” You said, walking towards the trashcan and throwing away the piece of cloth. Your mom peeked at you from behind the kitchen wall and said, “Something smells like a dead fish in here” You crossed your eyes at her because you knew it was you. Those stinky odors have made you not come out of your room.

“Fine. Just give me five reasons to use these menstrual cups, and I will think about it.” You finally gave in.

“Just check in the tablet. You will be amazed by how comforting these menstrual cups are.” You nodded and picked up the tablet. Typing in the search engine, a site opened where it listed exactly five reasons. You began reading them.

“Menstrual cups are more flexible and leak-free. If you are tired of getting your bed stained, then you should move on to menstrual cups. They are leak-free for up to 12 hours, absorbs the period fluid rather than holding it there. They are perfect if you are going out in public and have a fear of getting your dress stained even with just a small sneeze. Menstrual cups work perfectly for everyone, sleep well and walk with no fear in public because they hold up to 5 times more than a tampon.

Another reason to use menstrual cups is the freedom from late-night walks to the stores. If you got your period in the middle of the night, then menstrual cups will be there for you no matter what. When used properly and taken care of, menstrual cups can last for several years. Their long-lasting nature will save you from spending so many dollars every month, and the late-night walks to the stores. All those dollars could be saved for a trip to your dream place, right?

Have you ever felt like you smell too bad on your periods? Sitting in a room full of people and a stinky odor makes its way up to your nose, making you gag. Those stinky odors are caused due to the use of toxins and bleach in the tampons and pads. They not only make you smell bad but also increases your health risks. Menstrual cups are freeing you from that yucky smell that you keep on thinking about whether others can smell it or not.

Not only that, but they don’t interrupt your pH balance as well. Most tampons and pads absorb 65% period fluid and 35% natural moisture, which causes dryness and an imbalance of pH levels.” You shook your head with a small smile. So, she was right, you thought.

“Are you the person who gets rashes due to pads and tampons? Well, then menstrual cups won’t mark your skin as theirs. They are made from medical-grade silicone, which suits every skin type. Even if you have sensitive skin wearing menstrual cups won’t bother and irritate you.

Ever felt itchy when on your period? Well, you needn’t worry about it anymore. These menstrual cups are soft, flexible because cotton isn’t the one used to make these. They provide you the comfort you have been dreaming of having on your days.”

“Found something worth reading?” Your mom’s voice pulled you out from the trance.

“Actually, yes!” You said, putting the tablet down and picking up the car keys.
“Where you headed?” She asked.

“To the store to get these menstrual cups,” You said and walked away.

Her eyes landed on the not-so-stained-anymore couch, and she shrugged. It took the perfect cream-colored couch of hers to make you realize that menstrual cups were the best.

Menstrual cups should be used so that such a situation doesn’t occur.
